How Cheap Flights to Bangkok Allow You to Explore More
If you are in Bangkok just for a day or two, you might
not get the chance to explore all the popular attractions in the Thai capital.
However, there are certain places you can explore to get a better understanding
of what the city is all about. These places are an excellent combination of
cultural attractions and outdoor activities. As the vibrant capital of Thailand
allows you to explore some unique sights, fabulous experiences, and delightful
cuisine, your short stay in this Thai city can be a memorable one.
The amount saved while booking your cheap
flights to Bangkok can be utilised while exploring some of the most popular
attractions in the capital city. One of them is the Grand Palace, the most
famous among the city's landmarks. It was constructed in the late 18th century
and was used as the residence of the Thai king, the administrative seat of the Thai
government, and the Royal court for 150 years. Even today, the palace continues
to charm visitors with its fascinating architecture and intricate works of art
by the Thai craftsmen. You can also find some impressive structures within the
palace complex, such as the Wat Phra Kaew or 'Temple of the Emerald Buddha'.
Before merging into Bangkok, Thonburi was an
independent province. Situated on the Chao Phraya River's western banks, it has
been largely untouched by the modern developments and still retains the
man-made network of canals or 'khlongs', such as Khlong Bangkok Noi and Khlong
Mon. Navigating these khlongs are the flat-bottom boats and painted long-tail
boats. They can be hired from any of the major tourist piers, such as Maharaj,
Rivercity, and Taksin. Visit the Royal Barges Museum located on the northern
rim of Klong Bangkok Noi to browse through some uniquely decorated barges and
boats of Thailand.
Situated on the banks of Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun
is yet another mesmerising Buddhist temple worth visiting. It is locally called
'Wat Chaeng' and has a design that's quite different from the other temples in
the Thai capital. This temple is located opposite another beautiful temple
called 'Wat Pho' and can be reached by taking a boat from the Saphan Taksin
boat pier. Wat Arun looks very attractive after sunset when it is illuminated
by bright lights. If you wish to have lesser crowds around you while visiting
this temple, arrive during early hours of the morning. Make sure that you are
dressed appropriately while visiting this temple.
Don't miss the Chinatown of Bangkok, where most of the
city's Chinese community resides. It is located in the Yaowarat district and
has not been affected by the rapid urbanisation that the capital of Thailand
has undergone since the late 20th century. The entrance to this neighbourhood
is marked by a unique Chinese gate and the main roads lead to a series of small
roads, backstreets, and narrow alleys. One of the biggest attractions of this
neighbourhood is the Temple of Golden Buddha. Although there are no big clubs
or bars in this area, you can certainly enjoy some great dining experiences
after sunset.
