Mauritius Holidays Allow You to Visit Fascinating Places
Located about 1,200 miles off the south-eastern coast
of Africa in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is an enchanting island nation
explored by numerous tourists arriving in the country from different corners of
the world every year. It was ruled in the past by the Dutch and the French
until it came under the rule of the British in the early 19th century. It
remained under the possession of the British until it became independent in
1968. Today, it has become one of the most popular island destinations in the
world. During your time spent in this country, you'll get to explore its most
popular attractions.
Among the famous places you can visit during your Mauritius
holidays is Ile aux Cerfs Island, which is also known as 'Deer Island'. It
is located in the Flacq District near the east coast of the country and is
well-known for its sandy beaches, a fascinating lagoon, and some excellent
tourist facilities. While you're on this island, you can unwind on charming
white-sand beaches or go swimming or snorkelling in the lagoon. Ile aux Cerfs
is spread across a vast area of nearly a hundred hectares and is home to some
of the nation's most beautiful beaches.
Black River Gorges National Park is yet another
wonderful attraction you can explore while holidaying in this island country.
It covers an area of more than 6,500 hectares and is located in the hilly
south-western region of Mauritius. It was created in the Mauritius Black River
Gorges Nature Reserve for protecting the natural vegetation in this part of the
world. As a result, it became one of the most prominent places on the island
for sightseeing. You'll enjoy your walk through its green natural surroundings
until you reach the highest point in Mauritius called the Black River Peak. Facilities
offered in this national park for visitors include areas for picnic, two
information centres, and 60 kilometres of nature trails.
Upon visiting the Chamarel Park, you'll get the chance
to witness 7-coloured Earth and Chamarel Falls. You'll be amazed to see a
stretch of clay earth that has seven different colours at one place. It has now
become one of the major tourist attractions in Mauritius and is of great
geological curiosity among many. The most prominent colours you'll come across
while visiting the 7-coloured Earth are purple, red, and yellow, while you can
see other colours, such as brown, green, blue, and violet. While visiting this
park, you'll also get to witness the Chamarel Falls, which comprises three
distinct streams flowing down 100 metres into a gorge.
Don't miss visiting the Eureka House, which is a
unique Creole house constructed in the 19th century. It has been built in a
vast garden surrounded by the Moka Range and the waterfalls of Moka River. It
has earned the reputation of being one of the largest houses on the island of
Mauritius and has more than a hundred doors and windows. It was restored and
opened to the public in 1986 as a museum.
